Principal's Message A Message from the Principal

This year the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA), formally called PARCC, will take place on April 9th, April 10th, April 11th, April 16th and April 17th.  The Make-up test sessions will be held on April 18th and April 30th.  All students will take their test during the regular scheduled times. The primary purpose of NJSLA is to provide high quality assessments of students’ progression toward post-secondary readiness and success. Additionally, NJSLA results influence decisions related to curriculum and instruction. With this in mind, we ask that you encourage your child to put forth his/her best effort on NJSLA, so that results accurately reflect your student’s growth over the past year.

Additionally, students should not have any electronics in the classroom as it is violation of our testing procedures.   Any student caught with a cell phone will have their test voided and the parent/guardian will be required to come into school to pick it up

The NJSLA test is a requirement for high school graduation.

Robotics Robotics

Please congratulate our Engineering and Robotics club’s VEX Robotics Teams for their invitation to the NJ VEX ROBOTICS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!! They competed twice this month at South Brunswick and Millburn High School where they were great competitors in their first year competing.

Comets 88193C - Mr. Roboto earned an invitation to the state championship based on their skills score with a score of 15 points.  They are 44th in the state in the skills competition.  This is an amazing feat for a first year team. They were only able to practice for one week with the competition arena before competing. This is a huge achievement for Engineering and Robotics Club! Follow us on Instagram @ hhs_pltw_stem

VEX Robotics Competition consists of two alliances – one “red” and one “blue” – composed of two teams each. They compete in matches consisting of a fifteen second autonomous period followed by one minute and forty-five seconds of driver-controlled play. Teams can also compete in individual Programming or Robot Skills trials.  The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing Alliance by High Scoring or Low Scoring Caps, Toggling Flags, and by Alliance Parking or Center Parking Robots on the Platforms.
