Red Ribbon Week Red Ribbon Week

It’s that time of the year again. Red Ribbon week will take place October 23-31, 2020. The Red Ribbon Campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico killed DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985. The Red Ribbon symbolizes intolerance toward the use of drugs. The theme for Red Ribbon this year is, “Be Happy, Be Brave, Be Drug Free.”

The activity for Hillside High School is outlined below.  I encourage you to share the information with your students as well as the Red Ribbon Week video that I attached.  Of course, everything will be executed virtually, but I believe it is important to continue the celebration.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

A Message from the Principal Principal

Hillside High School had a successful virtual school opening through our new Canvas learning platform. Teachers welcomed students into their virtual classrooms where they provided training and orientation activities on how to successfully navigate through this new learning tool.  Students are attending their virtual classrooms with confidence, excitement and engagement.  In addition, our virtual Back to School night held on Wednesday, September 23rd  was a great success.

Meals are provided at the high school on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 – 6:30 in the cafeteria located in the main parking lot.

Please note the following important weeks celebrated in the month of October:

School Violence Awareness Week – Since 2003, schools and districts have been observing School Violence Awareness Week during the week beginning with the third Monday in October, which is October 19th – 23rd .
